Best Value For Money In The World

New Zealand has several flight schools, so closing the one which fits your needs can get difficult.

The New Zealand International Commercial Pilot Academy (NZICPA)has a strong history of successfully training professional and recreational pilots. Its professionally managed, has the best instructors and the highest quality of training and is value for money.

The Company has been training New Zealand and international student pilots for a period in excess of 25 years.  Our graduates are employed by leading airlines in New Zealand, India, and throughout the Pacific, South East Asia and the Middle East.

NZCIPA is based in the New Zealand, North Island, West Coast city of Whanganui. Whanganui is regarded as one of New Zealand’s most interesting and distinctive places to visit with a rich cultural heritage and vibrant arts scene. The City is surrounded by mountains, Mount Taranaki, Mount Ruapehu and Mount Tongariro, a beautiful natural landscape, dramatic West Coast beaches and unspoilt native bush for hiking and wilderness trips. Our vibrant, friendly and welcoming community prides itself on its parks and reserves, cycle and walk ways and an abundance of creativity. With a comparatively small population of 45,000 people, Whanganui is a safe and suitable place to study and learn.

NZICPA currently operates 15 aeroplanes, and employs 14 dedicated flight instructors to train 60 students, both against the New Zealand Diploma in Aviation and international students programs. NZICPA conducts a minimum of two C Category flight instructor courses each year and qualifies between six and ten new flying instructors. The current organisational structure allows for both retention of permanent senior flight instructors, and development of junior team members. The Academy is fully operational from a new base (full detail below) at the Whanganui Airport.

The Whanganui Airport is perfect for flight training, as commercial traffic is light and the field is well positioned geographically for flight training. Furthermore the airport is subject to varying winds, and with a number of runways available. It is centrally located when considering the wider infrastructure required for effective and efficient professional pilot training.

NZICPA offers the highest quality courses which are the most value for your money. Whether you want to be a recreational pilot or want to gain the experience to be an airline pilot, we have the right course for you.

NZICPA holds both NZ CAA and New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) certificates authorising the conduct of flight training and international student education. Importantly, the maintenance of these certificates – CAA Approved Training Organisation (ATO – Part 141) and Air Operator (Part 135), and NZQA Approved Private Training Establishment (PTE) – requires regular and thorough audit.

NZICPA prides itself on its professional pilot training programme. We recognise the modern pilot is extremely important during abnormal and/or emergency procedures. Accordingly, our training focuses heavily on hands and feet flight training and good decision making.
